Adapting Your Cookbooks to a Gluten-Free Lifestyle

Do you need to replace all your cookbooks when you go gluten-free? Let's talk about adapting your favorite recipes instead.

When you start a gluten-free diet, you might feel the urge to buy all new gluten-free cookbooks. But guess what? It's totally not necessary! Most of your beloved recipes can be easily adapted with a few simple substitutions.

Here are some quick tips:

Pasta: Just swap in gluten-free pasta.

Soy Sauce: Use gluten-free soy sauce.

Bread Crumbs: Substitute with rice crumbs or even just rice.

Bouillon: Make sure you get a gluten-free version of bouillon.

Recipes that call for less than a quarter cup of wheat flour are especially easy to adapt. You can use one of these four flours:

  • tapioca

  • cornstarch

  • potato flour

  • arrowroot

To make things even easier, I've put together a cheat sheet showing you what to use, how much to use, and what to use it for. Click here to download the PDF.

So, don't throw away your cookbooks! Get them out and start remaking all your favorite recipes in a gluten-free version.
